Lottery

General Information

By law, admission at each of our schools is open to all students wishing to attend. Each year, there is a lottery window for the following school year. During the window, parents can submit applications for their children. After the lottery window closes, each school checks its applicant counts by grade. If a school receives fewer applicants than seats available, no lottery needs to be held and every eligible student will receive an offer for the following school year. In the event that there are more students who apply to the school than there are seats available, admission will be determined via a public, random lottery.

Lottery Application Availability

Lotteries for the current school year took place during the last school year and applications that are received are placed on each school’s waitlist on a first come, first served basis.

For the 2021-2022 school year, our online application is available starting on October 19, 2020. Applications can be submitted at https://pucschools.schoolmint.net.

Lottery Drawing

The window for the lottery for our Northeast Los Angeles Middle & High Schools* closes on November 30, 2020 and the lottery drawing will be held on December 10, 2020.

The window for the lottery for our Northeast San Fernando Valley Schools as well as PUC Milagro Charter School** closes on February 8, 2021 and the lottery drawing will be held on February 18, 2021.

Lottery Mechanism

Our lotteries are done through SchoolMint an online enrollment platform. Click here to learn about SchoolMint’s lottery mechanism and to find out how schools are able to run fair and auditable lotteries for granting admissions.

Notifications

Notifications regarding offers will be sent following the lottery and parents will have 3 business days to accept the offer through SchoolMint. Applications may still be submitted after the lottery windows close. However, those applications will not be entered into the lottery and students will be admitted (or added to the waitlist, depending on seat availability) on a first come, first served basis.
