07 Jan A Message from the PUC Schools CEO Regarding Events at the U.S. Capitol

PUC Parents,

We are deeply saddened by yesterday’s events at the U.S. Capitol. Our thoughts are with those who live and work in and around the Capitol area, who were forced to fear for their safety due to the actions of the violent mob. We appreciate all those who are working diligently to ensure a peaceful and orderly transfer of power later this month at the U.S. Presidential Inauguration, in the face of so much strife in the world, and in the midst of a pandemic.

While yesterday’s events brought to the surface many strong emotions and reactions for all, we must also retain hope. Hope that in these uncertain times, the work of so many throughout this country as champions for equity and justice including our work here at PUC Schools will continue to drive the change our country needs for the future. As demonstrated by the US Congress, who worked late into the night to certify the electoral college results, we must not let challenging events deter us from peacefully moving forward but rather open the opportunity to work together for a more just and equitable tomorrow. At PUC Schools, our work in service of our students, families, and our communities is our longstanding commitment to social justice and equity. As we prepare to open the new semester we will continue to work together to develop future leaders in our students in all sectors of our society who will better reflect the diversity of our nation, defend and advance our civic values, and uphold government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” for future generations.

Familia de PUC,

Estamos profundamente entristecidos por los eventos de ayer en la Capital de los Estados Unidos. Nuestros pensamientos están con quienes viven y trabajan en y alrededor del área de la Capital , quienes fueron obligados a temer por su seguridad debido a las acciones de la multitud violenta. Nosotros apreciamos a todos los que están trabajando diligentemente para garantizar una transferencia de poder pacífica y ordenada a finales de este mes en la inauguración presidencial de los Estados Unidos, frente a tantos conflictos en el mundo y en medio de una pandemia.

Si bien los acontecimientos de ayer sacaron a la superficie muchas emociones y reacciones fuertes para todos, debemos tambien mantener la esperanza. Esperanza que en estos tiempos de incertidumbre, el trabajo de tantos en todo este país como campeones de la equidad y la justicia, incluyendo nuestro trabajo aquí en las Escuelas de PUC, continuará impulsando el cambio que nuestro país necesita para el futuro. Como lo demostró el Congreso de los Estados Unidos, que trabajó hasta altas horas de la noche para certificar los resultados del colegio electoral, no debemos permitir que eventos desafiantes nos impidan avanzar pacíficamente, sino mas bien abran la oportunidad de trabajar juntos por un mañana más justo y equitativo. En las Escuelas de PUC, nuestro trabajo al servicio de nuestros estudiantes, familias y comunidades es nuestro compromiso de largo plazo a la justicia social y la equidad. Mientras nos preparamos para abrir el nuevo semestre, continuaremos trabajando juntos para desarrollar futuros líderes en nuestros estudiantes en todos los sectores de nuestra sociedad que reflejarán mejor la diversidad de nuestra nación, defenderán y promoverán nuestros valores cívicos y defenderán el gobierno ” de la gente, por la gente y para la gente ” para las generaciones futuras.
