Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

PUC CALS Families,

We would like to welcome all of you to an exciting new academic school year at PUC CALS Charter Middle School & Early College High School. We want to provide a warm welcome to our new families and our returning families to the 2017-2018 academic school year in support of our mission. The upcoming school year will mark our 17th school year in service of our mission, students, families, and North East Los Angeles at PUC CALS Charter Middle School & Early College High School. We are opening the upcoming school year with a large number of teachers that were once students at our school and are now fulfilling our PUC Commitment #3 of students commit to uplift our communities now and forever. As the school’s principal, who has had the honor and privilege of graduating all of the high school’s graduating classes, it is incredibly uplifting and amazing to see our students return as teachers to our school and our community to serve. We are excited about the new school year and look forward to a great year, working with you and your child, around the Culture of CALS, Culture of Learning, & Culture of Scholars to continue our longstanding history and legacy of school success.

A strong lever to our school’s longstanding success are the partnerships we build with our students and families in support of our mission. In the coming school year we look forward creating new partnerships and cultivating existing partnerships with you as parents to ensure the success of your child at our school. We have taken the summer to review, analyze, and reflect on our school data and feedback from last school year, as we do every summer, and are excited to open the new school year with a continued commitment to our mission, vision, students, and families. We would like to welcome you and your child to our annual CALS Back to School Night: Parent-Teacher-Meet-And-Greet {August 16, 2017 from 5:30pm-7:30pm} created to have parents meet with their child’s teachers, school support staff, and school leaders before the actual start of the school year. This has been a longstanding and promising school tradition on our campus anchored around our commitment to strong partnerships to bring parents, teachers, and school leaders together in a casual meet-and-greet family format to support the success of each parent and child at our school. Lastly, we are pleased to welcome a new site leader to support and lead our middle school program, Sarah Wechsler, who has years of experience, is dedicated to our mission and vision, and looks forward to meeting all of our middle school parents and students for a successful new year.

Welcome to 2017-2018,

Ms. Rivas
