Dear PUC Family and Friends,
As we are all trying to adjust to our new reality in these unusual times, it is my great pleasure to share some great news about our schools. The U.S. News & World Report named all five PUC high schools on their list of the best high schools in the nation. While PUC schools have been recognized the past three years, this is the first time that all five of our high schools made it together.
PUC Lakeview Charter High School and PUC Community Charter Early College High School were placed in the top 3% of high schools in the nation. These rankings put PUC Lakeview Charter High School among the top 20 high schools in Los Angeles Unified, and the 10th best charter school in the nation’s second largest school district!
It is our mission to ensure that our students enroll and succeed in post-secondary education. The report highlighted that all of PUC schools have a graduation rate that exceeds 90 percent, with an average of 95% of PUC schools graduating class meeting UC and CSU enrollment requirements.
The report’s highlights:
- PUC Lakeview Charter High School was ranked in the top 20 high schools at Los Angeles Unified and the 10th best charter school in the district, and among the top 3% of high schools nationwide.
- PUC Community Charter Early College High School is among the top 25 high schools in Los Angeles Unified and the 14th top charter in the district. It was also ranked in the top 3% of high schools in the country.
- PUC eCALS was ranked in the top 11% of high schools in the country and top 15% in California.
- PUC Triumph Charter High School was among the 15% of high schools in the nation and among the top 20% in the state.
- PUC CALS Early College High School was among the top third of high schools in the nation.
Each year, the U.S. News & World Report determines schools’ ranks using six indicators: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance and graduation rates. This year, U.S. News assessed more than 24,000 public high schools across the nation and 2,605 schools across California.
This year’s recognition is the fruit of our dedicated teachers and their commitment to serving and preparing the next generation of young leaders. We are extremely proud of all of our schools’ performances and appreciate everyone’s involvement in advancing student success by ensuring every child experiences a quality education. Let this year’s U.S. News & World Report serve as a reminder of what we are capable of accomplishing and as a motivation to continue amazing work with our students, especially when they need the most support learning from home.
Sincerely,
Concepción Rivas
