As part of a 17-year old PUC tradition, the incoming 6th grade PUC middle school students in the Northeast San Fernando Valley begin their middle school years on the campus of California State University Northridge. This tradition began when the facility for the first PUC School, Community Charter Middle School, was not ready on time for the school’s opening in 1999. Great news for our high schools! U.S. News and World Report has named PUC Community Charter Early College High School in the top 100 schools in California and has awarded them a gold medal. At PUC Achieve Charter School in Rochester, the first day of Common Core testing began with cheers, and teachers, administrators and parents welcoming students with support and hugs. While some families across the state opted-out of the test, 177 of the 178 students at Achieve took the Englsh Language Arts state test. This is a very exciting and groundbreaking winter season for PUC Community Charter Early College High School Athletics! This year we are making school history by sending three of our four winter teams to the CIF-LA City Section Division 5 Championships. Following last year's success of winning our first ever CIF championship with our boys soccer team, we will once again be sending the boys soccer team to compete in the city championship, accompanied this time by the powerful girls soccer and girls basketball teams. On Tuesday, February 16, US Congressman Tony Cardenas visited the PUC Sylmar Education Complex. Congressman Cardenas, who grew up in the NE San Fernando Valley and is a graduate of San Fernando High School, visited the classrooms of two outstanding Teach For America teachers, Vanessa Luna who teaches 6th grade history, and Joslyn Quintallina who teaches 6th grade science. The Congressman also spent time chatting with administrators and students. All who met with him were very impressed and agree that he is a tremendous role model for our PUC students.  ...

PUC Achieve Charter School held it's first annual father-daughter dance and has gained attention from local news station 13 WHAM. From 13WHAM.com: Rochester, N.Y. -- A school dance that, theoretically, the whole community helped take part in. PUC Achieve Charter School in Rochester held a dance for 5th and 6th grade girls. They were escorted by male members of their family, from fathers to uncles to brothers. They were also taken to the gala in a limo, wearing dresses donated or bought by members of the community.
