The PUC Clinical Counseling Program is dedicated to servicing the needs of the students and families of PUC. The goal of the Clinical Counseling Program is to improve students' mental health. The program offers Internship and Traineeship opportunities for those in or have graduated from Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Art Therapy, Psychology, Counseling, and Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) programs.

To prepare Interns/Trainees to work with the Students and Families, they are given extensive supervision and trainings.
Supervision includes:
- 1 hour of Individual Supervision Weekly - Written write-ups due each week outlining celebrations/successes, areas needing personal growth, critical evaluations of clinical skills, and case presentations.
- 3 hours of Group Supervision Weekly - includes community circle, appreciations/reflections, informal and formal case presentations (videoed) and professional development trainings.

Interventions
- Interns and Trainees will learn a variety of different theoretical orientations and will learn a variety of different interventions to use with clients. Creativity is emphasized. Embracing challenges is supported, and thinking outside the box is greatly encouraged.
Family Systems Dynamics
- Interns/Trainees are taught that to help the client, you must understand the family of origin. The client is constantly looked at within the framework of his or her family.
Legal and Ethical Issues
- Review of Minor Consent Laws and legal responsibilities
- Review of Ethical practices, specifically boundaries and confidentiality
Case Management
- Cases are reviewed and presented weekly. Interns and Trainees are assessed on appropriate goal setting, interventions and progress with clients.
Crisis Intervention
- Interns/Trainees will gain experience in Child Abuse reporting, managing suicidal and homicidal ideation, and processing with clients who have witnessed domestic violence and traumas.
Cultural and Diversity Issues
- Interns/Trainees evaluate not only the clients cultural and diversity issues but theirs as well. Intern/Trainee self evaluation is key to remain unbiased and neutral.
Special Education & FST Training
- Interns/Trainees have the experience of attending academic meetings, to learn more about the academic functioning of their clients and get to interact with other concerned persons.
