Welcome to Lakeview Charter Academy
In response to an ever growing waiting list and a community outcry for the development of additional charter middle schools, PUC opened a second Northeast San Fernando Valley Middle School in 2004, Lakeview Charter Academy (grade 6). Students at Fenton Charter School, a nearby, high-performing charter elementary school, have participated in the lottery for Community Charter ever since the first year of operation. At the request of Mr. Joe Lucente, Executive Director of Fenton, the new Lakeview petition granted enrollment preference to Fenton students. Despite this accommodation, the new school was so overwhelmed with requests for seats that not all of the applying students could be accommodated (including those at Fenton).

Lessons learned from CCMS and CALSMS have helped ensure great success at Lakeview. Edward Vandenburg, current site principal and former Community Charter Middle School employee, was able to successfully transfer the PUC vision, mission and culture into the new school. This process was further assisted by two of the Community Charter teaching staff who requested to be part of the founding staff of the new school.
