Excel is the newest charter middle school in the PUC family. Opening with grade six only, 2006-07 is the school's first year of operation. Grade seven will be added in the second year of operation and the school will reach its full enrollment with grades six, seven and eight in year three of operation. Excel holds the distinction of being the 100th charter school authorized by LAUSD. In that LAUSD has now authorized more charter schools than any other district in California, a huge celebration took place following Excel's petition approval. The

staff of Excel has the advantage of being able to benefit from the expertise and lessons learned at the other PUC Middle Schools. The PUC collaborative model will enable the staff to do exactly that! Excel's principal, Ms. Patricia Mora, was a highly successful classroom teacher prior to achieving her M.Ed. degree in School Leadership and School Development. She has assumed several leadership responsibilities prior to accepting her new position as a PUC principal. A natural leader with a variety of talents, there is no doubt that with the leadership of Ms. Mora, the newest of the PUC schools is going to be highly successful!
