On the evening of October 28th, Thorne Hall at Occidental College came alive with the phenomenal saxophone rhythms of renowned smooth jazz recording artist, Richard Elliot. The house was electric as Richard played his heart out to help raise funds for the PUC arts programs. The hall was filled with approximately six hundred excited fans, PUC staff, parents and students. Preceding the concert, guests viewed student art work that was beautifully displayed for a silent auction. The performances began with the outstanding PUC dancers, followed by Richard Elliot. Fans were enthralled as they watched this amazing jazz artist perform in this intimate venue. Those who had never heard Richard play live were astounded at his showmanship and at his command of his instrument. Energetic and dynamic, Richard’s huge variety of moods and rhythms held the audience spellbound. It did not take long for the house to begin cheering and rising to their feet with enthusiastic applause!

Thirty sponsors donated raffle prizes and the house rocked until 11:30 p.m. After returning to the stage for an encore, Richard met and greeted many audience members in the lobby, where he shook hands, chatted and signed CD's. The evening was a tremendous success. Those who were present said not only that they would buy tickets again next year but also that they will be sure to bring other guests with them! On that note, we look forward to next year when we will celebrate the Second Annual Benefit for PUC Arts!
