U.S. News & World Report just named three high schools that are part of the PUC Schools (PUC) network of schools, among the top in California and the nation.
PUC Community Charter Early College High is the top high school in the San Fernando Valley and eighth best charter high school in L.A. Unified (and 76th best high school in the state), earning a gold medal.
PUC Lakeview Charter High School is in the top 6 percent of high schools and PUC eCALS (Early College Academy for Leaders and Scholars) was ranked among the top 15 percent of the 2,185 California high schools U.S. News and World Report analyzed.
“We believe in our hearts and minds that all students can be prepared for college and career readiness. PUC eCALS is fulfilling our vision and commitment to the Northeast Los Angeles community,” said Leslie Chang, Los Angeles Regional Superintendent for PUC Schools. “This recognition is a testament of the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff and families.”
“We are incredibly proud of our school and the relentless pursuit by everyone on campus to ensure all students and families have access to a high quality educational program that holds students to high expectations, believes each student is capable to achieve, and fosters meaningful partnerships with families,” said Nik Orlando, Los Angeles Regional Superintendent for PUC Schools.
U.S. News and World Report, which reviewed 20,548 high schools in the country, factors in several criteria including graduation rates, students’ performance on state tests, whether historically underserved students performed better than the state average, and college readiness based on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate participation and performance.
