Demonstrating their commitment to revitalizing individual homes and entire neighborhoods, Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading non? profit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities, will lead a two?day rebuilding effort in San Fernando, CA. Hundreds of volunteers will come together on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 19th and 20th, to provide critical home repairs, accessibility modifications and other improvements to three homes owned by low?income families, and will make improvements to a local school.
Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s will partner with Carter's Kids and the Environmental Media Association (EMA) to provide a brand?new fitness activity area and sustainable school garden for the Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy, one of 12 Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
Carter's Kids was founded by Carter Oosterhouse of HGTV’s Carter Can and Red Hot & Green, to increase the activity level of kids by building and developing community parks and neighborhood playgrounds
EMA believes that students don't just have to learn within the confines of four walls, but that education can take place in a dynamic atmosphere that engages students in a unique and creative fashion. School gardens provide an interdisciplinary and student?centered experience that enriches their learning experience in a "living classroom."
